Ralph’s Obituary
Ralph Walter Helle, resident of Grimshaw, formerly long-time resident of Dixonville, passed away November 1, 2021 at the age of 90 years.
Ralph was born May 14, 1931 at Smith Mills. He was the oldest of seven children. As a young fellow Ralph went to school at Grayling Creek. When he first left school, he worked for farmers in the community. As he got older, he worked at Smith Mills and also on oil rigs. Ralph married Pat McLachlan in 1963. They had seven children. They lived on a farm in the Grayling Creek area. Ralph spent years working off the farm. He trapped for years west of Manning. He was also an avid hunter and spent many falls as a big game guide. Later he cat-skinned and line slashed all over Alberta, Northern B.C. and the Territories. All of Ralph’s years on the farm, he had horses and cows and was never without a dog and a cat.
One of Ralph’s favourite sources of entertainment was auction sales and family times. He always loved animals and children. He always had time for neighbours, friends and family.
In 2008, Ralph and Pat sold their home in Dixonville and moved to Grimshaw. In 2014 Ralph was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and in February 2015 he moved to Stone Brook where he remained until his passing.
Ralph is predeceased by his wife Pat Helle, children Kimberly Lynn, Kenneth Walter and Kurby Allan, mother Virginia Lepretre, father Sylvester Helle and sister Dorothy Glenn.
He is survived by his daughters: Darlene (Bob), Melody, Karen (Paul), Lyla (Paddy), Grandchildren: Luc, Brittney, Ryley, Kathy, Dillon, Marcus, Jordan, Quintin, Sheldon, Kira, Kennedy, Robyn and Great Grandchildren: Kurby, Shiloh, Damian, Kaleb, Aubree, Zander, Zaire, Hudson and Ava, Siblings: Garney, Gerald, Frances, Shirley (Rick), Douglas (Josie) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 @ 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Memories Ltd. in Peace River with Elie Robinson officiating. Due to covid restrictions, in person attendance is by invitation only. For those wishing to attend virtually, the service will be live streamed on the Chapel of Memories facebook page.
Interment to follow at a later date at the Central Grove Cemetery in Dixonville.
If friends so desire, donations can be made to Stollery Children’s Hospital, STARS Air Ambulance and Mazankowski Heart Institute.
