Obituary of Quinlyn Kenneth Smith
THE LIVESTREAM LINK WILL BE POSTED HERE THE DAY OF THE SERVICE.
Quinlyn Kenneth Smith, aged 17, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away on September 3rd, 2021 at The Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
Quinlyn was born at the Regina General Hospital to Jason and Lisa Smith of Cupar, SK on August 3rd, 2004. He attended Cupar Playschool and then Cupar School from age 3 through to the end of Grade 8. In 2018 he moved to Saskatoon where he attended Evan Hardy Collegiate, completing Grade 11 this past June.
He enjoyed reading, writing, drawing, hanging out with his friends and family, especially his brothers and cousins, playing cards and games, going out to the movies, acting in school dramas, gardening, and snuggling with his cats. Quinlyn enjoyed spending time outside, and at the farm at Star City with his cousin Caitlyn and her pets. Quinlyn attended St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, where he was an active member of the youth group, part of the English Conversation Group, and was responsible for lawn care and snow removal. Quinlyn especially loved Camp Okema where he spent many summers as camper, and more recently, a cabin leader.
Quinlyn’s outstanding characteristics were his wit, humour, intelligence, compassion, and patience. He weathered his pain and ill health with a level of grace, courage, and fortitude well beyond his years.
Quinlyn had been living with illness for several years, with declining health. Before he became ill, Quinlyn loved to run, skate, ski, and play soccer. More recently, Quinlyn spent much of his time communicating with his friends and family through social media where his wit and humour flourished and were appreciated.
Quinlyn is survived by his parents, Jason and Lisa Smith of Saskatoon, SK. Brothers, Bryson of Aylesbury, SK, Doran of Regina, SK, and Garen of Saskatoon, SK. Grandparents Allan and Tina McMunn of Tisdale, SK, Gloria and Jim Keim of Lethbridge, AB and Doug Smith, of Vulcan, AB.
