PINNEGAR, GARY Rodney. August 6, 1952 – May 26, 2021
It is with great sadness the family announces Gary’s passing at the age of 68 at the Dunnville War Memorial Hospital with his wife, Cindy by his side. Son of the late Joshua and Edith Pinnegar. He leaves behind his devoted soul mate, best friend, love of his life and wife Cindy (Hollingworth). He was the proud, supportive and loving father to Kyle (Victoria), Jason and Tanya; grandfather and BIG papa to Colton, Ava, Bryce and Colyn; brother-in-law and friend to Randy and Luisa Hollingworth from Florida; uncle and mentor to Christopher Billyard; and lifelong best friend and hunting buddy to Steve Windle (Jenn, Josh & Lou).
Gary was born and raised in Dunnville and through his job and background he was a very popular and social guy in the community. He had many stories to share about the “old days”. Gary had a very satisfying and rewarding job as an officer with the OPP for 36 years. He was a dedicated officer and served in many facets of the job to include the police boat, motorcycle, detective, highway officer, community based policing and the courthouse. Gary made many acquaintances through his job and even today people come up and thank him for the advice or not giving a ticket or helping the citizens. Policing was his life and he was very proud of the job he did.
Gary had many other interests and hobbies to include fishing, hunting, volunteer firefighter, and decoy carving. The highlight of his hunting sport was travelling to Saskatoon last September with his buddy, Steve and hunting under the guide of his son, Kyle. Gary loved to travel with his wife to Jamaica, Florida and Las Vegas. He was always anxious to book a trip as he enjoyed the time meeting new people and relaxing in the warm weather. Since retirement, Gary has checked off many items on his bucket list. Gary will be missed by many many people. He had a positive friendly outlook and was always prepared to tell humorous and entertaining stories.
Please look over all of us and keep us safe. My love for you is endless and will never waiver. You have earned your wings to heaven. You are free to fly and soar. We love you and will hold you in our hearts forever.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes he has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Broad Creek Recreational Club c/o K. Culp 7175 Rainham Road Dunnville, ON N1A 2W8 (not eligible for tax deduction) or the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare foundation (dhff.ca). The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kamouna for his support and care, and the staff at Dunnville hospital for their empathy and attentiveness.
