PILEK Marie 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Pilek announces her death after a year’s struggle with cancer. Marie’s life, a life to be celebrated, enriched those whom she encountered. We will miss her energetic presence and independent spirit. May she rest in peace.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Jerome Ell; her sisters Jeannette Jacyk, Leona Lund (Dave), and Veronica Taylor (Bryce); and her brothers Edward Pilek and Stanley Pilek (Marion). She was predeceased by her beloved big sister Trudy Laing (Ernie) in 2015. Marie will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Marie’s life and career was marked by a trust in providence and a dedication to bringing out the potential in people, particularly young people. Born in Garson, Manitoba, she grew up in St. Boniface. Her studies in education and counselling took her to Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton. She spent the greatest portion of her professional career working as a counsellor in the schools of Sherwood Park. She was also a dedicated long-term board member of Chimo Youth and Family Services, and a passionate advocate for the care of young people.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton, AB.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of PILEK Marie 2021..
