Pierre Arthur Brandelius
Aug. 4, 1931 – Oct. 3, 2021
Pierre Arthur Brandelius was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He led a varied career there as a life guard and swim instructor, a mechanic, and a bartender as well as working for the gas company and then for the Parks and Recreation Department of the city of San Francisco. After his retirement there, he moved to Canada and settled in our lovely Winnipeg Beach. Here Pierre worked for the town of Winnipeg Beach for a number of years and also developed his own lawn care business. After his second retirement, Pierre became very involved in Gimli’s Aspire Theatre as well as our local sacred circle dance group. It was at circle dance where he met his loving wife, Rachel.
Pierre is survived by his wife Rachel Brandelius; his daughter Stephanie Brandelius; his son Peter Brandelius and grandchildren Wendy Kline, Jess Kline and Dean Brandelius; as well as step-children Rob Anderson (Amber), Amy Wall and Maureen Anderson (Kyle); along with grandchildren Estelle Wall (Aman), Devin Anderson, Rebecca Wall, Jocelyn Anderson and Lauren Anderson.
Cremation has taken place and in accordance with his wishes, there will be no service.
Thank you to the wonderfully kind and caring staff at the Seven Oaks Kidney Clinic. A great big shout out of gratitude and love to all the staff at Gimli Hospital for their kind, compassionate care for Pierre during his final days there.

Death notice for the town of: Selkirk, Province: Manitoba
I got to know Pierre #1 over twenty-one years ago when I joined the Gimli Theatre Association.
He was number one because he was here before me and I became Pierre #2.
Throughout the following years, we spent many hours in the ASPIRE Theatre in Gimli, making sure that everything in the building met his exacting standards. The building became his second home and he made it a point to inspect the premises at least three or four times a week or every time he came to town.
I’m proud to say that he inspired me when our theatre season gained traction and I knew I could call on him for assistance whenever I needed it.
We also spent many hours together talking about our lives and we discovered that we had both led a turbulent life in our past. I cherished these moments. He helped me remember many painful events in my life just by being there.
Rest in peace my friend I will remember you.
I first met Pierre at Marina Junior High School. From Marina we went to Galileo High School in San Francisco. Pierre, Scott Amour, Frank, Pavich, Jack Cooke and I were a tight group of solid buddies. After high school we still kept in touch, although we pursued different careers, we managed to meet at least once a year. In high school we were always together and we gave Pierre the nickname of “Pete.” He often said he couldn’t figure out how he was named Pierre since he was Swedish. He played football and was a Colonel in the ROTC and also an excellent swimmer. I was in touch with him via the internet and was so sorry to hear of his passing. So many fond memories of a special friend who always had a kind word, a wonderful laugh. Rest In Peace dear friend.
