Phyllis d’Entremont Redecha was born in Lower West
Pubnico, left when she was 18, returned when she was 97 and died a few
hundred yards from where she started over 102 years before. In the
intervening years she married, had two children and created a famous
interior design work-room in New York City called The Acadian
Collection. She worked until she was in her late 80s and only stopped
when she moved to California to be closer to her daughter and
son-in-law. But there’s no place like home and so she
returned to Lower West Pubnico and lived there in great good health
and happiness for over five years.
We mourn her passing but we rejoice in the absolutely
remarkable life that she lived. Rest in peace,
Phyllis.
