Phyllis Humble March 24 2021

Humble, Phyllis Ethel (nee St. John)
1936-2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Phyllis. She passed at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 84 with her husband and sons by her side.
Phyllis was the heart of the family and she will be profoundly missed. Left to carry on her legacy are her husband Mel, their sons Brian (Wanda) and Steven (Shelley), grandchildren Danielle (Tyler), Michael and Alyshia, her sister Georgie, sisters-in-law Lorraine, Hazel, Mickey, Elaine and Peggy, brother-in-law Ken, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Keith St. John.
Phyllis was born in Eston on July 26, 1936 and spent her childhood on the family farm near Brock with her parents, sister and brother. She met the love of her life, Mel, in Kindersley in 1958 on a fastball diamond. Mel and Phyllis were married on December 5, 1959 in Kindersley. Their first child, Brian, was born in 1962 in Swift Current and Steven was born in 1964 in Grenfell. Mel’s successful career with SaskPower created opportunities for the family to move to many Saskatchewan communities finally settling in Saskatoon in 1982.
Phyllis had several different jobs as they moved around the province and she retired as school secretary at Lawson Heights School. While working as a secretary in the Saskatoon school system, she particularly enjoyed talking with and helping the students who found their way to the office. Phyllis stayed active golfing, curling, coaching, and going on family skiing trips. After Phyllis retired, she continued to enjoy golfing, and having coffee and lunch dates with her friends.
Phyllis shared a wonderful 61 years of marriage with Mel. They loved each other deeply and were best friends. They shared a passion for sports which allowed them to enjoy golfing and curling together, and to be fans of many sports they followed on TV. Once retired, they spent 14 winters as Snowbirds in Arizona and California where they enjoyed an extended golf season, time with friends, and warm weather.
Phyllis was proud of both her sons and their achievements. Her ultimate joy was holding the title of grandma. She shared a special bond with each of her three grandchildren and burst with pride with each grandchild’s accomplishments, generosity and special talents.
Phyllis was one of the most loving, caring, kind, generous, and selfless people you could meet. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and especially by her family.
There will be no funeral service at this time due to the current COVID-19 limitations on social gatherings. A celebration of life will be held for Phyllis at a future date. Arrangements in care of Chelsea Krentz – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
