Peter John The Chief Wisniewski Wednesday May 5th 2021

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Peter John Wisniewski. He left us unexpectedly at his home in Burlington, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Doris (nee Wallis). Loving father of Katherine (Chris) D’Amico, Peter (Sky Roberts) and Paul (Cheryl Payne). Cherished grandfather of Anna, Jakob, Samuel and Nikolas. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Katherine (nee Radowiec) and his siblings, twin brother Johnny (late Carol), Joe (late Marie), Steve (late Jane), Laz (late Mickey), Mike (Cheryl), Caz (Suzanne), Jeannie (late Roy) and Annie (late Billy). Survived by his sisters Verna and Mary (late John) Buchowski.
Peter, affectionately known as the “Chief”, cherished his grandchildren, Anna, Jakob, Samuel and Nik immensely. They were the light of his life. He never succeeded in making Anna get mad at him, and she laughed at all his corny jokes. Jakob, (mini Peter/Grandpa), shared his passion for inventions and sense of humour; he was Samuel’s biggest hockey fan and taught him to ride his 2 wheeler. He taught Nik to skate the minute Nik could walk, and they adored one another.
Peter will be remembered for his sharp wit and sense of humour. In the words of his nephew Mike Grenon “once you met Uncle Pete, he stuck to your ribs”. He was a hardworking man with 2 career jobs; Eaton’s and W.C. Wood Company. We never had too much but always had enough.
His children/grandchildren were taught to never get pushed around. He was a “tell it like it is” kind of guy and you always knew where you stood with him.
Peter was the Chairman of the “Wisniewski Family Golf Tournament”, and although he constantly tried to quit as organizer, he absolutely loved and cherished nothing more than having the Wisniewski family together. He was past president of the Burlington Old Timers Hockey Association and Kinsmen Club Kirkland Lake. His favourite accomplishment was being drafted by the Detroit Redwings. He was a proud Northern Ontario boy.
Peter loved sharing the story about seeing a picture of Doris (wife) in the Brockville newspaper (she was the Brockville Beauty Queen), and said “I’m going to marry that girl”. They were married for 58 years, always honouring their commitment, even though times were not always easy. It has been especially beautiful watching them profess their love for one another over the past 5 weeks while Doris has been suffering from her illness.
