It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Edward Shiel on Monday September 6th, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Villa Continuing Care Center at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband for 56 years to Joan Shiel (née Chamberlain) of Cornwall. Loving father of Deirdre Branchaud (Wayne) of St. George, On, Brendan Shiel (Lee) of Blackstock, On and Erin Vivian (Darrell) of Gander, NL. Cherished grandfather of Eamy, Amanda, Steven, Shawna, Krista, Sarah and Cate and great-grandfather of 4 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary Costello (Eddie) and Liz Shiel both of Ireland. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; the late Peter Shiel and the late Nelly Shiel (née Wickham), three brothers; Padrick Shiel, Michael Shiel and Leo Shiel and by one sister; Margaret Franklin. Peter arrived in Canada in 1957. He was a former millwright at Kraft Foods, Ingleside and for Combustion Engineer in Cornwall. In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers As expressions of sympathy Memorial donations to the Parkinson Association of Ontario or to the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center would be appreciated by the family.
