Obituary of Perry Darrell Lester Nelson
Perry Darrell Lester Nelson born January 14, 1958 passed away suddenly on Sunday May 23, 2021. Perry leaves behind his best friend and arch nemesis Luanne; children Dakota, Summer and Charles, Logan and Nikki with all three of his treasured grandchildren Aurora, Lincoln, and Cooper. He is also survived by his sister Denyse; brother Dwight; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was also especially close to his niece Kelly and Cousins Gwen and Allan.
He was and always will be Luanne’s “always and forever.” Perry often spoke of his adventures with his brother Dwight in South America and he deeply loved his sister Denyse with a special kind of bond seldom seen. He also sadly leaves behind his best friend Mark Weisshaar with whom he had so much fun with and planned to have so much more in the future.
Perry was a hard worker, was stubborn as a rock, but kind… he was always kind. Animals loved him and he was a collector extraordinaire (but really a hoarder) of everything from automobiles to garden seeds. If you were lucky enough to count Perry as a friend, he was a loyal compadre and would do anything he could to help you out.
He was a Wilcox boy, born and bred. He loved his friends and fast cars. Perry liked nothing better than telling his “back in the day” stories and any terrible jokes he could think of. In his younger days nothing made him happier than going way too fast down the street in a sideways drift and the more people watching him the better it was. When he wasn’t driving some big block Chev with the four barrels screaming, he was digging dugouts or running his auto wrecking business for over 20 years.
Later in his life, Perry discovered his love of growing things and gained much enjoyment growing his oversized garden. His happiest times were spent with his family. He loved his children more than anything and he was very proud of them… Summer for the joy her existence brought into all our lives, Dakota for his strength of character and was stubborn as a rock (just like him), and Logan for his hard work ethic and dedication to being a wonderful father to Perry’s three grandchildren.
As a man who spent his career fixing things, he leaves his friends and family with broken hearts which will be the only thing Perry can no longer fix… he will be missed dearly and never forgotten.
