PAULINE MARY JOHNSTON -NEE CURRIE 2021

September 26, 1932- October 27, 2021
JOHNSTON Pauline was born in Channel-Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland. She was raised by Carrie and James Currie, with sisters Grace and Joan, and brothers Abe and James.
Pauline was class valedictorian in her graduating year at St. James High School. She was alumni of Memorial University in St Johns, graduating with a teaching certificate. She taught school in a one room schoolhouse in Black Bank, Nfld.
She met her husband Harold Johnston who was working on the breakwater in Port Aux Basques. They married and travelled to Toronto, Sarnia, Thunder Bay, Uranium City and settled in Edmonton in 1957.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold and her brother Abe Currie. She is survived by sisters Grace Handlin and Joan Antle, and brother James Currie; children Brian, Sue (Steve Segal), Joan Narraway, Paul (Teresa Brogden), Barbara and Peter; grandchildren Meghan (Jesse) Doherty, Lisa Narraway, Max Segal, Emma Segal, and Sarah Segal; great grandchild Violet Doherty.
Pauline volunteered and was a member of her local community league. She also spent many hours at the Edmonton Ski Club assisting the Nancy Greene League and the Alpine program. She was a gatekeeper at the first World Cup race at Mt. Norquay! Knitting was her favorite past time, and she created many sweaters, toques, scarves and mitts for family members and friends. She was an avid reader and keep herself up to date in current affairs and politics. She enjoyed walking with her friends in the mornings. She took pride in maintaining her properties in Edmonton and Cottage at Pigeon Lake.
She will always be remembered by her smile and willingness to help her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held next summer.

May her soul rest in Peace.
