Paul died suddenly at home following a fall. He had a stroke in June 2018 and has been in ill health since. Paul was born in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia & is the youngest of the 4 sons of Harry and Elizabeth Williams. Paul served in the Canadian Navy on the St. Laurent 205. He moved to Toronto where he met Sueann in a bowling league. They were married in 1978 & moved to Calgary in 1981 with infant daughter Margaret. Paul played Slo-pitch ball in the Calgary Jay Cee Men’s League and the Triwood League. He became a Slo-pitch Umpire for the Calgary District & umped several Provincial and National Championships across Canada during his umpire career. When Paul & Sueann moved to Olds in 2007, he joined the Olds Alberta Clippers Slo-pitch team which played league games in the Mountain View and Red Deer countys and also joined the Eagle Hill League. Paul enjoyed playing in the Alberta Senior League and was looking forward to joining the age 70 division. Both he and Sueann enjoyed their get-away weekends attending the games around the province. Paul at the time of his stroke, had been employed by the Ramada Inn, Olds. He always had a smile or a joke and was a friend to all. Paul is survived by his wife Sueann of Olds; daughter Margaret (Steven) Moore; granddaughter Astrid Moore in Sheffield England; brothers Brian (Vi) in Stony Plain, AB, Ken (Myrna) in Halifax N.S , Dan (Ellie) in Coldwater N.S. & well as many nieces & nephews.
