Paul Gerard Baird
February 01, 1959 – November 14, 2021
Passed peacefully away at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, November 14, 2021, surrounded by family after his well fought battle with cancer.
Paul is survived by his mother Nancy Baird; his siblings, Wanda Parker, David Baird (Beverly), Ann Austin (Brian), Bernice Cooke (Philip), Sam Baird, Phillip Baird (Dinah), Lucy Baird (Alison), and Beverly Jennings (Barry). His many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Paul is predeceased by his father William Baird and brother Billy Baird.
An avid walker, you would often hear Paul’s whistle well before you would see him strolling towards you with his signature Hi-ya. A steadfast Montreal Canadians fan and a Growlers season tickets holder. Paul was a devout Roman Catholic who grew up in the St. John Bosco Parish and was a longtime Sobeys employee. Well known as a true blueberry picking aficionado and a decorated athlete. Paul was also a loyal friend to many; there wasn’t a place you could go or a person you could meet without discovering a connection to Paul.
Paul will be mourned and missed by his family, the community of Shea Heights, Carol Ann Jordan and Wayne Nolan from Sobeys, his coffee friends at McDonalds, The Village Mall, and Avalon Mall, his dear friends Pop Howell, Mike Keough, Jim Bursey, Roland Sesk and the hockey boys and many more too numerous to mention. Special thanks to Dr. Dawn Armstrong, Dr. Ashley Paul, Lyndsey Rae Curtis, Palliative Paramedic Team and staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Clinic.
As per Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at St. John Bosco on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 2 p.m.
No flowers by request. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to The Janeway Foundation, The Gathering Place or a charity of one’s choice.
