Paul Ernest Lawrence Monday February 1st 2021

Paul Lawrence
(1947-2021)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Grandpa/Papa and Friend. Survived by his loving Wife Florence, Mother Jessie, Brother Mark (Linda), Daughters Jennifer (Cam) and Hilary (Dan). Loving Grandpa/Papa to Walker, Matthew, Sam and Abby. Predeceased by his Father Ernie.
A family man first and foremost – he loved nothing more than spending time with family, canoeing down the Grand River with his daughters and grandsons, family reunions up North every year to see the Fall colours, attending every possible sporting/dance event for his Grandchildren and travelling all over the world with Florence.
Paul was a mentor, role model, coach and volunteer. He never passed up an opportunity to lend a helping hand and we have been touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends and colleagues over the past few weeks. Always committed to improving his community, Paul was a past member of the Board of Directors of Joseph Brant Hospital and the Rotary Club. It was such a blessing for Jennifer and Hilary that their Dad coached them throughout their years in the Burlington Amateur Softball Association and that he and Mom were the #1 fans in the stands when he was not coaching.
Paul became a Chartered Accountant in 1971 and thoroughly loved and excelled at his chosen career. For many years he used those talents to volunteer at retirement homes in Burlington to prepare tax returns for seniors.
An avid golfer, Paul loved to spend time on the golf course with friends and family and was a proud Past President of the Burlington Golf & Country Club. Walker and Matthew will always cherish their time spent on the golf course with their Grandpa and seeing him and Grandma in the stands at every baseball and hockey game. Sam will always remember his Grandpa’s laugh and enjoying banana splits together and Abby will always remember how her Papa made Christmas so magical and seeing him in the audience at her dance competitions.
Paul loved spending time outdoors going on hikes in the forest, spending a relaxing afternoon fishing or walking the beach on vacation. He wonderfully passed on these loves to his daughters and grandkids.
Paul touched the lives and hearts of so many and will be forever missed but we are so very grateful for all of the wonderful years that we had with him.
The family will be having a private ceremony at Smith’s Funeral Home. Paul’s family is looking forward to the day when we can all get together and celebrate the wonderful life he led and the wonderful friendships that were created.
Having had a grandfather that was injured in World War 1, Paul was a committed supporter of the War Amps throughout his life. Paul also loved sports and always felt that every child should have the opportunity to play and enjoy the sport of their choice. As such, memorial donations to War Amps or JumpStart would be appreciated by the family.
