1940-2021
Paul Curzon Gertridge – 81, of
Wolfville, passed away on December 28, 2021 in Valley Hospice,
Kentville. Surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax,
he was a son of the late Lawrence “Larry” and Celia (Helsby)
Gertridge.
Paul served
with the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring as Postal Corp. Chief Warrant
Officer. Paul also served on peacekeeping missions in Egypt and
Cyprus; posted with his family to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario
and Germany twice in service to his
country.
Paul is
survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shilah (Notting)(MacKay);
children, Paul “Darren” (Lisa) MacKay Gertridge,
Tillsonburg, ON; and Adrienne (Scott) White, Windsor Junction;
brother, Johnny Gertridge, Bedford; and grandchildren, Rachel White,
Angus Gertridge and Amber Meyer.
Sandpiper
and his family would like to give their heartfelt appreciation to the
amazing and caring staff at Valley Hospice. They helped keep
Sandpiper’s dignity and personality shining through till the very
end. With that we would like to thank the Valley Regional
Hospital and its staff for their support and
treatment.
Cremation
has taken place. A graveside service will be held in Riverside
Cemetery, West Hants, in the spring. Donations in memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society (Multiple Myeloma) or Valley Hospice
Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
