Patrick Charles Schenkel
June 29, 1931 – August 03, 2021
Pat passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on August 3rd, 2021, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday.
He was the devoted and beloved husband of Elsie for 69 years, cherished father of David, Susan and her husband John Davidson, beloved grandfather of Michael Davidson and wife Rina, Matthew Davidson and partner Mila Gavrusenko, and James Delaney-Schenkel, and recently became the proud great-grandfather of baby Theo.
Pat was born in Lancaster, England, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1963, eventually retiring as the owner of his own business. He was a proud member of the Toronto Live Steamers, and spent many happy hours at the track and club meetings. In retirement, he spent many happy hours in his machine shop working on one of his life goals, the fabrication of a steam locomotive from scratch.
He will be sadly missed by his cousin Jacqueline Jolly and her family, cousins Michael (Katherine) Green and Barrie (Irene) Peel, and his many friends from the Toronto Live Steamers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise of Burlington for their compassionate care for the last year and a half, as well as the staff of Joseph Brant Hospital ER and 5N.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 14th at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 54 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville. Visitation from 12-noon until the service begins at 2pm. We regret that due to Covid restrictions, attendance at the service will be by invitation only.
