PASTOR VELETA ADINA FARQUHARSON 1929 2021

Obituary of PASTOR VELETA ADINA FARQUHARSON
PASTOR VELETA ADINA FARQUHARSON
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Pastor Veleta Adina Farquharson, co-founder of the New Anointing Christian Fellowship of Winnipeg Inc. (formerly Berean Church of God), born August 14,1929. She entered her eternal rest October 18, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband Bishop Mervin Farquharson, founder of the New Anointing Christian Fellowship of Winnipeg Inc. She has left to mourn her siblings, brother, George Dean, her sister Maisie Lewars, nieces and nephews, the church family (NACF), other family and friends.
In Jamaica, Pastor Veleta Farquharson begun her journey to become a trained professional when she passed her 1st, 2nd and 3rd year examinations. Her first teaching assignment was at the James Hill School in James Hill, Clarendon. Later she moved to Vere, still in the parish of Clarendon, where she obtained employment at the Post Office.
Knowledge was always important to Pastor Farquharson, and in her quest to hone her skills and remain on the cutting edge of her career as a nurse, in 1955, she immigrated to England. There she enrolled in the noble institution, East Birmingham Hospital, School of Nursing, that would equip her to serve more effectively and efficiently in her career of choice.
While in England she met and married her late husband Bishop Mervin Farquharson. They later immigrated to Canada where she enrolled in the University of Winnipeg and pursued a course of study in Geriatrics. Subsequently, she offered her professional services to The Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, where she served faithfully for fifteen (15) years. Her outstanding service could not be overlooked and so she was promoted to the position of Head Nurse. Pastor Farquharson was later on employed to the Sharon Nursing Home where she served for seven (7) years, but the ministry was calling, like Jeremiah she had fire shut up in her bones. So, after many years of dedicated service to the physical well-being of man, she decided to give herself wholeheartedly, to seeing to man’s spiritual well-being. She entered full time Ministry. She was well equipped for the task ahead, having attained her Bachelor of Divinity from the Menno Simons College in collaboration with the University of Winnipeg. She served God and His people with excellence and dedication.
The family wishes to thank:
