Peter Robert Cormier
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the heart of our family, Peter Robert (Bob) Cormier, at Greater Niagara General Hospital on November 12, 2021, at the age of 93. Bob was the cherished soulmate of Elizabeth (Betty) Frame Cormier. They cared for each other throughout nearly 69 years of marriage. Dad was the loving father of Debra MacDonald and her husband David, Peter and his wife Patty, David and his wife Trudy, and William and his wife Nona. The family mourned the loss of Peter (September 2021) and take comfort in knowing that he and Dad are now reunited in their Heavenly home. Papa was the beloved grandfather of nine; Rob and Katie MacDonald, Allison, Devon, Simon, Bailey, Riley, Amy Cormier and Danielle Boehmert. He welcomed their husbands and partners to the family. He was loved by his great-grandchildren, Danika and Danikin Boehmert.
Saddened by his passing, are his sister-in-law, Mary Frame, many nieces, and nephews of the Frame clan in Scotland and Pennsylvania USA, and by the Graham family. Bob was the chosen son of Peter Duncan Cormier (d. 1952) and Mary Agnes Cormier (d. 1990) and was lovingly named Peter Robert, in honour of his father. Bob was a life-long resident of Niagara Falls and an active member of our community. He was an electrician, employed at Barnes Electric, Kimberley Clark and General Motors in St. Catharines. Throughout his working years he was respected as a diligent worker and a reliable employee. He passed on his strong work ethic to his children and grandchildren. Bob’s community involvement over the years was outstanding. As a young man he devoted his time to Scouting, where he worked with youth, and served as an executive in the Scouting organization. He had a passion for history, particularly that of the Niagara Region and the War of 1812. Bob participated in sharing his enthusiasm in his role of town crier for the “Friends of Stamford Village”. He was an active volunteer into his eighties at the Lundy’s Lane Historical Museum (now the Niagara Falls History Museum). He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with elementary students at Historical fairs. Dad was a devoted husband to our mother, always placing her needs above his own. Together they created a home that welcomed everyone. Our house was the scene of countless parties and barbeques. Dad was happy when he was hosting family and friends, old and new. His most important role was as a devoted father. He was a “Hands-on-Dad” before that term became popular. He always had time for his children and grandchildren, teaching us by his example to appreciate relationships and the simple things in life. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Our family was truly blessed. We extend our thanks to those who cared for Dad to make his final days comfortable, especially to his personal support worker, Richmond, who always brought a smile and words of encouragement to him. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family funeral will be held at Morse and Son Funeral Home on Friday, November 19, 2021 with inurnment at Stamford Heritage Columbarium to follow the service. A live stream of the funeral service will be shown at the Morse & Son Funeral Home Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/morseandson). at 10:55 am to view the service. Donations directed “in support of children’s programs” to The Niagara Falls History Museum would be welcomed if so desired.
