Obituary
It is with great sadness, the family of Normand Joseph Yvon Emile Robidoux announces his peaceful passing at home, on November 9th, 2021 at the age of 73.
Normand was born to Josephat and Marie Rose Robidoux on December 14th, 1947 in Macamic, Quebec.
As a teenager, his family relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
On August 6th, 1971, he married the love of his life Gail “Bunny” Laroue.
Normand is survived by his daughters; Georgette (Harold), Lizette (James) and Yvette (Chris); his grandchildren: Emma, Jimmy, and Jet; his sister: Normande; his brother: Ray; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Normand is predeceased by his wife Gail; his granddaughter, Sara Ashleigh; his parents, Josephat and Marie Rose; his brothers, Marcel, and Pete; as well as his sisters, Suzanne, and Carole.
After working in construction in Sault Ste. Marie, he relocated his family to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Normand had a very successful career as a Drag Line Operator, in the Oil Fields, spending over 28 years with Syncrude. Upon retirement, Normand and his wife returned to Sault Ste. Marie.
Following the passing of his wife, Bunny, he returned to Alberta to be with his daughters and grandchildren. Normand was a true family man. His family meant more to him than anything in the world.
Family and friends could always find him sitting in his garage where many lengthy visits were enjoyed. A shot of whiskey or a beer was always offered and always available.
Normand was an avid hockey fan, a lover of all things Montreal Canadiens. GO HABS GO!
He often mentioned how proud he was of his “Girls” and grandchildren.
Dad was our rock. He will be thought of daily and missed forever. Until we meet again.
A service will be held on Monday, November, 22nd, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Fort McMurray, Alberta, officiated by Father Augustine Joseph CMI. Due to COVID restrictions the funeral service will be invite only.
Normand will be laid to rest with his wife, Bunny, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, next summer.
A small family service will be planned at that time.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to do so can make a memorial donation in Normand’s name to the Edmonton Stollery Children’s Hospital or the SPCA.
