Obituary of Norman Richard Alexander
Alexander, Norman Richard: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Richard Alexander. After suffering a severe stroke on September 16th, Norman passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on September 27th, 2021. Surviving him is his wife of 62 years, Viola (nee Sguigna). Beloved father of his two sons, Stephen (Donna) and Christian (Brenda), and cherished grandfather of Dr. Nathan Alexander. Lovingly remembered by his other grandchildren Matthew Bourassa, Tyffany Carbonne (Mark), Jayson Carbonne (Corinna), Lindsay Biamonte (Luke) and great grandchildren Tessa, Tamar, Torah and Theah. Norman was born in Fort Erie to parents Lyle and Lela Alexander on September 3, 1934. He is pre-deceased by his brother Harry and his three sisters, Doris, Marion and Shirley. After graduating from the University of Buffalo and from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Norman was drafted into the U.S. army, where he served overseas in Germany for two years. Upon his return to civilian life, Norman worked for The Wm. Hengerer Co. in Buffalo, New York for over thirty years. After his retirement, spending time with his family, travelling, gardening and bird watching were the joys of his life. Stephen and Chris wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses at the St. Catharines General Hospital, who showed such compassion and concern for Norman. A special thanks to Katie, who was there at his bedside holding his hand as he peacefully passed to join his brothers and sisters. A celebration of his life will take place in the future.
