At Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge on Thursday, October 7th, 2021, Norman M. Herd of Ayr passed away in his 81st year. Dear husband of the late Wendy Herd (nee Hodgson, 2004); Beloved father of Karen Eldridge (Garnet Caldwell) of South Rawdon, Nova Scotia, Kelly Herd (Luna) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Keith Herd (Debbie Harrison) of Toronto, Ontario; Loved grandfather of Jennifer Eldridge, Robyn Eldridge, Derek Breau and Tamara Herd and great grandfather to Dakota, Cole, Faith, Wesley and Bowdrie; Brother to Phyllis and Robert Sinclair of Cambridge, Hazel and Tony Sicuro of Cambridge, Brian and Heather of Ayr and Ivan and Carla of Cambridge. Norm was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for 30 years working initially as a Marine Engineer and then as a Deep Sea Diver. He finished out his military career in Explosives Ordinance. In his retirement he also enjoyed working for the Co-op in the summer and plowing snow for the highway in the winter. At Norm’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations to The Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund would be greatly appreciated.
