Norman Archibald Cameron 2021

Obituary of Norman Archibald Cameron
CAMERON, Norman Archibald – 87, Shelburne, was received into the loving arms of his Saviour, August 16, 2021. Born in New Chester, Guysborough County, he was the son of John and Alice (Publicover) Cameron. Norman is predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings, Sterling, Roderick, Georgie and Sylvia. Norman was greatly loved by his family, friends and all who had the chance to meet him.
He loved his wife of almost 60 years, Gloria, his children, Kevin (Beth) and Brian (Emily), his grandchildren, Christopher, Tristan, McKayla and Allura as well as many nephews and nieces.
New Chester was his home and remained so in his heart his whole life. He enjoyed nature and in his younger years did hunting and fishing. Every living thing from the smallest to the greatest was dear to his heart. He especially liked cats, enjoying their company and was always sorry to see them go. He enjoyed working with firewood and he could fix anything mechanical. In his younger days he did various jobs and worked in construction. He worked a lot with small engines and machinery. He could drive just about anything with wheels. Norman worked for many years and retired from Shelburne Marine Ltd.
Never short for a good story or joke to tell, he loved to laugh and appreciated life to the fullest. Norman kept a notepad beside his bed for any new poems, jokes or stories that came to mind so he could share them later with friends or church family. Everyone looked forward to them. Musically talented from a young age he played guitar, mandolin and all sorts of instruments. He played and sang with Gloria in churches and senior’s homes. Gospel and bluegrass were his favourites. Both Gloria and Norman never missed a church function unless for a good reason. Having survived three heart attacks over the years, Dad always said his heart was his problem, but all who knew him would say it wasn’t true. He had the best heart a person could have. Many times he helped his family and friends and often stopped to help
strangers in need, stranded alongside the road. Maybe that’s where God has him now -helping others find their way home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home. An intimate, family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2 pm at the St. James Church cemetery.
