Norma Rempel
Norma J. Rempel passed away on August 21, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 83. She was born in Rosthern, SK on June 14, 1938, the daughter of Judith and George Riekman. Norma is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Alvin Rempel. She is also survived by her two sons; Myles (Arlis) Rempel and Kerrigan (Monique) Rempel; grandchildren; Leigh Rempel, Jadah (Omar) Ahmad, Jordan (Cora) Richard, Dalton (Michelle) Rempel, Devin (Stephanie) Neufeld, Brandon (Bonnie) Neufeld, and Michelle Neufeld; great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Kinsley, Madisyn, Jacob and Nicholas. Norma is also survived by her brother George Riekman, brother-in-laws John Shellenberg and Delmar Rempel and by many favourite nieces, nephews and great friends.
Norma was a patient and loving mother whose parenting was always guided by her faith in God. She was active in her church community and was a member of church choirs, which conducted concerts and community outreach programs. Norma could often be heard humming hymns to herself. Norma placed a special emphasis on holidays, where she was able to spend her time being with her family and friends. Of all the holidays, Christmas held a special importance at the Rempel household, being the celebration of Christ’s birth. Her life is a testament to her never-wavering belief.
Norma had a deep appreciation for the arts, specifically music, singing and painting, with a focus on watercolor, acrylics, decoupage and encaustic. Norma loved painting flowers found at her cabin at Wakaw Lake, scenes at her childhood farm where she grew up with a large and loving family, the prairies, and illustrations of her faith. Norma developed many valuable friendships through the art community and doing the things she loved.
Norma will be forever remembered as a unique person who exemplified all that is good in the world. She was a beautiful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that were lucky enough to meet her. Our sadness at her passing is comforted knowing that such a wonderful person, and is now pain-free, at peace and in heaven. She will always be missed, appreciated and loved.
