Norma Edwards Saturday December 4th 2021

Edwards, Norma Helen (nee Maker) – October 22, 1924 – December 4, 2021
Norma died peacefully at Princess Gardens with her family by her side at the age of 97. Daughter of Constable Norman Maker and Muriel Maker (nee Patterson). Norma grew up in Belleville after the tragic death of her father in 1927, shot in the line of duty as a Peterborough OPP Officer. She returned to Peterborough in 1948 after marrying Bill and they built a life together for 72 years. As avid Bridge players, golfers and travelers, their life was filled with friends and laughter.
Norma was a dedicated community supporter including the I.O.D.E., the Canadian Red Cross Society and Co-Chair of the Civic Hospital Emergency Expansion Fund. She was also well known to students and staff at Crestwood Secondary School where she worked in both the office and as a teacher.
Having moved to Summit Terrace in 2014, recent years added new friends and social activities.
Pre-deceased by her husband Bill (died May 2021), loving mother of Susan and Bill (Chris), proud grandmother of Jaime (Stephen) and Brian, and devoted great-grandmother of Kailee, Emma and Hunter. Also survived by many cherished extended family members in the Mulligan, Patterson, Morris Edwards and Taylor families.
A private family service will be held. The family is grateful to the staff of Summit Terrace and Princess Gardens for their kindness and support. If desired, donations in memory of Norma can be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre or the Peterborough Humane Society through the funeral home at www.ashburnhamfuneral.ca or directly online.
