It is not without sadness, but mostly great pride in a life very well lived, that we announce the peaceful passing at home (as per her non-negotiable wishes), of Nora Margaret (Mummum) Tilley, aged 86 of Eastern Passage, on Oct 19, 2021, with her entire family by her side. Mummum was the daughter (4th of 9 children) of the late Harold and Mary Ellen (Myers) Naugle. Mummum was proud to have been born, raised, lived, and died on Howard Avenue, and never forgot what it was like to be poor, which made her forever grateful for the little things in life like running water, and the telephone. She was a lifelong member of the St. Andrews CWL, a former nursery school teacher, a dedicated 30 year fearless canvasser, and donor to the Canadian Cancer Society (and every other worthwhile cause under the sun). She was a many times over Atlantic Winter Fair Grand Champion Baker, most famous for her homemade bread and rolls, which adorned many a wedding and funeral reception table. She was a loving wife, mother, & friend, but most importantly to her, simply “Mummum” to her adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with any other child in need of her endless love. Mummum treasured the long time annual extended family vacations to White Point, where she could concentrate full time on spoiling the grandkids, all of whom revelled in being at her side in life, as they were till the very end. Mummum loved the kids with her entire being, and was so proud of them all! Mummum is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Larry) Naugle, sons, Michael (Mary), Stephen (Barb), Joey (Liana), sisters, Marie Morash, Rita (Ron) MacLean, Marguerite (Cyril) Dumphy, sisters-in-law, Kay, Myrtle, Grandchildren, Christopher (Tammy), Nicholas (Jamie), Stephanie (Jason), Brian (Chelsea), Breanna (Cyle), Ryan, Megan, Kristiana (Max), Tina (Trege), Great Grandchildren Hayden, Ellie, Carson, Grace, Cooper, Olivia, her most recent pride and joy Gabriella Nora, along with Little Nick, & Madison, and many favorite nieces and nephews. Needless to say, but yet we need to say, she is survived as well by lifelong friends she loved dearly, Olive, Ollie, Leah, & Lil. Mummum was predeceased by her parents, her precious son Christopher, her true love and faithful husband John, brothers, Harold, Patrick, Stephen, and Morton, and sister Josephine. We would like to extend special thanks to her at home care team led by her daughter Elizabeth (Nurse Ratched), her grandson Nicholas (who went above and beyond in spite of too often being called Stephen), her son
Michael (Nurse Cranky), and niece Angie (you were always Mummum’s, and our “Angel” till and after the end…God Bless You). Our thanks as well to favorite nephew Terrance, all the angels at the VON, NS Palliative Care (you are blessed by angels, especially Nick), and Mummum’s friend and our saviour, Susan Duggan. Susan, words cannot express our appreciation for what you have done for our family. Finally, to Mummum’s good neighbor Roy, you have gone well out of your way, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Visitation will be Thursday, October 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. in Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home, 5 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage. Funeral Friday, October 29 @ 3:00 pm in St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Passage, with immediate burial to follow, and final reception at The Lions Hall. All covid protocols respected, so proof of double vaccination, and I.D., along with masking will be mandatory for all.
Lastly, Mummum wanted us to end her obituary by saying “Her Buns Will Rise No More,” with that being said, we know her buns rose one last time, as she ascended to her maker, her true love, her long lost son, and all the other lost loved ones in her life. But no love lost on us Dear Mummum, as we will love you always and forever.
God Bless, Your Loving Family
