Nora Klashinsky passed away peacefully at the Humboldt District Hospital at the age of 91. She is survived by her loving family; sons Rod (Sandy) of Saskatoon, SK & Gary (Minnie) of Kelowna, BC, and daughters Colleen (Murray Knackstedt) of Humboldt, SK & Laurie (Barry Gray) of Kamloops, BC; 6 grandchildren; Ashley, Natalie, Jessica, Jodi, Kelsie & Tyler and 6 great grandchildren; Rayne, Sawyer, Paisley, Uriah, Isaak & Hadley. Nora is also survived by her sister, Janet Stroeder, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Alex, her infant son, Murray, her partner, Ed Thiemann, her mother, Theresa Wittke, her father, Frank Reineke, her step-father, Carl Wittke, her sister, Theresa Reineke, and her brother, Werner Wittke.
Nora was born in Humboldt to Theresa and Frank Reineke on April 23, 1929. She grew up on the family farm about 9 miles northeast of Humboldt and moved to town when she married Alex in 1951. Alex passed away in 1985. In 1990 Nora and Ed, her partner, moved into a home they purchased on Canada Place, and later moved to Caleb Village where Nora resided until her passing.
Nora was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, making clothes for her daughters and Siwash sweaters for her family and friends. She taught sewing to children in 4-H for many years and received a Leadership award from the 4-H Canadian Council for her efforts. She worked in women’s fashion for many years in various clothing stores in Humboldt.
Nora and Ed were avid sports fans and were long time season ticket-holders of the Humboldt Broncos. She loved to dance, travel, play cards (didn’t like to lose), go for long drives in the country and visit with family and friends. She was an avid bowler and bowled up until her late 80’s.
She was a generous, kind and loving person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Humboldt Hospital staff for being so caring and making mom’s last days as comfortable as possible.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Funeral
