Nora Gobnait O’Meara O’Herlihy Wednesday March 17th 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Nora Gobnait O’Meara, age 74, who passed away peacefully at home on March 17th, 2021. Nora is predeceased by her husband Thomas, mother Bridget, father Timothy and brother Tim. She is survived by her siblings Breda (Brendan), Siobhan (Frank) and Donal, her loving children Sean, Siobhan, and Aisling (Henry) and her precious grandchildren Ronan, Abigail and Finn. She grew up in Ballyvourney, Cork, Ireland and obtained her teaching degree at National University Ireland in Galway, before immigrating to Canada in 1974. Nora was a devoted and fun teacher. She had great compassion for others and volunteered most recently with Meals on Wheels. She had great faith in God and was a long-time member of St. Anthony’s Parish in West Vancouver.
She made lifelong friends wherever she went. She loved long chats on the phone with her family and friends, watching Jeopardy, travel and gardening. She always had a listening ear and the right thing to say. We will miss her beautiful Irish lilt, graceful and humble demeanor, and sweet wit. Her death leaves a deep void that will be filled with the many great memories we have of Nora.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 23 at St. Anthony’s Parish, West Vancouver with internment at Capilano View Cemetery, West Vancouver. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a cancer support foundation of your choice
