She lived a simple yet complex life. Filled with determination and strength, her dedication to making a difference in the lives of her children was unwavering. She was a wife, a mother, a teacher, a fisher, a church organist, a worker, a designer, a knitter, a quilter, a community organizer, a gardener, a dedicated member of the UCW and LOBA, a loyal volunteer and a spitfire personality. Many met their match in her outspoken inclination through opinion and work ethic. Her dreams were enriched by a vivacious appetite for literature and life-long learning.
On yet another journey in her 97th year, this time to a place beyond the blue, Nina Genevieve Giles of Smith’s Harbour slipped away at sunrise on Monday, January 18, 2021.

She held a special place in her heart for her great-great-grandchildren – Luke and Bella Martin.
A large circle of relatives and friends including her surviving sister Margaret Foster can reflect on Mother’s dynamic contributions to making life in a small rural community the best that it could ever be.
Mother loved plants and gardening with the lilac, geranium and rugosa rose as her favourites. Tough and hardy they grow on and on with just a little water. In memoriam, plant a seed, start a garden, sit a geranium on a windowsill or grant a wish in her name through a charity of one’s choice.
A Private Family Visitation will take place at Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 7:00 – 9:00PM.
