Nicholson, Marie
Marie Betty Nicholson (nee Faasse), of Durham, Ontario passed on to her eternal reward and was “promoted to glory” on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 in her 84th year. Born in Kelowna, British Columbia to Willemina and Adrian Faasse, Marie was the eleventh child with three sisters and seven brothers.
Living her formative years in Kelowna and Summerland, BC, Marie worked in the office of the John Deere farm equipment in Calgary, Alberta for two years before attending the Canadian Bible College in Regina, Saskatchewan where she met her husband, the Rev. David Nicholson. They were married in the Free Methodist Church in Summerland, BC on August 29, 1959.
Proud mother of four sons, the late Roger and his late wife Cindy, Douglas, Geoffrey and his wife Krista, and Calvin and his wife Sandy. Fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Marie and David served an interim position at the Durham Presbyterian Church from 1996 – 1998, where Marie was very active in the church and with various women’s projects. They later served at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Priceville from 2005 – 2018, where Marie played the piano for church services and with the St. Andrew’s strings, keeping everyone on beat and the right note.
Celebration of Life:
No visitation or service will be held at this time. A public memorial and thanksgiving tribute will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment of cremated remains at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford is planned.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Durham Presbyterian Church (“Manse Fund” in memo line) or to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce (“Chapman House” in memo line) would be appreciated by the family.
