Natalie Shumovsky Sunday February 28th 2021

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Natalie Shumovsky at the age of 55, on February 28th, 2021 at May Court Hospice in Ottawa, Ontario. She is survived by her mother Helene (nee Tatarski), brother Serge, nephew Christian and niece Alyssa.
Natalie was born on September 17th, 1965 in Montreal, Quebec, to proud parents Theodore Shumovsky (deceased January 26th 2010) and Helene Shumovsky. At the age of 8 the family moved to Ottawa where Natalie attended Queen Elizabeth Public School, Sir Wilfrid Laurier High School and graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in Medieval English Literature. After graduating from university, Natalie joined the Canadian Military in the communication field. After a few years with postings in Alert, Boston and Ottawa she started her career as a Senior Programmer/Analyst Consultant and continued this work until her passing.
Natalie was passionate about photography, scuba diving and weaving. These led her to scuba diving all over the world and incorporated her love for photography. Her passion for weaving led her to the Ottawa Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild where she was an active member. Her weaving also led her to starting her own business creating, weaving and selling her own works.
Natalie’s wish was to have a Celebration of Life event. This will take place when Covid restrictions are lifted and all her family and friends can come and share in celebrating her life.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice Care Ottawa , would be greatly appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Natalie Shumovsky Sunday February 28th 2021..

  1. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Natalie’s family. We met Natalie a few years ago scuba diving in Mexico and we found a new friend in her. We loved her quirkiness and sense of humour and are so profoundly saddened by her passing.
