Butt, Muriel Theresa
Muriel Butt was born one of six children of Florence and Henry Gordon October 27, 1925 in Peterborough, Ontario. Predeceased siblings Donald Gordon, Joyce Quail, Margorie Snider, Barry Gordon and Shirley MacKinnon.
Muriel is also predeceased by her husbands Andrew Roy Black and Donald Hudson Butt. She lived in Toronto until during early adulthood and moved with her young family to Orillia in 1959. She last worked at the Ontario Regional Centre and lived a busy, fun filled social life belonging to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 in Orillia; President of C.O.R. Senior’s Club and a member of The Entertainers from Big Cedar Estates. She was very active and enthusiastically participated in all offered by those organizations. Muriel embraced and loved her family and lived a very full and happy life. Muriel resided at Amica Senior’s Residence in Barrie since November 2016 and passed away peacefully on the Thursday, February 11th, 2021. Muriel will be sadly missed by her Daughter Bonnie (Jim Ainsworth), Son Kenneth ( Nita Black), Daughter Sheila (late Richard Slusarek ), Daughter Marti (Neil Mac Kay). Loving Grandmother of Shaughna Ainsworth, Tanya and husband Scott Ritchie, Tracy and husband Matt Hexemer, Natasha and husband Seymour Wood, Robert, Brian, and Michael MacKay, Ginger and husband Kevin Robert. Great Grandmother of Jan Piotrowski, Kaylyn and Laira Ritchie, Scott (Christopher) Ritchie, Bryn and Jack Hexemer, Benji Wood and Taylor and Trent Robert. Muriel’s legacy will be lovingly remembered by those she leaves behind. A family graveside service will be held at St. Andrew’s St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia. Due to covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely.
