The family of Muriel Olive (MacLean) McLaughlin, of
Fredericton, NB, is deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing
at Neill Hall on Saturday, July 31st, 2021. She
was born in Glace Bay, NS on April 17th, 1929.
She was the daughter of Olive (Grant) and Hugh MacLean.
Muriel, Mum, Grammie, Grammie M, is survived by her three
daughters and one son, Kathy (Bill MacNeil), Donna (Brian Dick), Judy
(late Richard Waugh), and Donald (Peggy), her much loved
grandchildren, Richie, and Andrew
(Amanda) Waugh, Adam
(Sophia), Mathew (Janet), Geoff (Karen) Dick, and Christina MacNeil
(Gaston St. Pierre), as well as her most cherished great
grandchildren, Marley, Audrey, Libby, and Josie Waugh and their mother
Stacey Forde. Teddy and Dane Waugh, Natasha and Thomas Dick, and
Sophie St. Pierre. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and
her two remaining siblings, Mary (late Chester) Smith, and Donald
(Judy) MacLean. She was predeceased by her parents, her much loved
husband Donald “Peanuts”, infant daughter Patricia, and
siblings Mildred, Beryl, Everett, Lorne, and Ruth.
Muriel was loved by all who knew her. She was always quick
with the jokes and the life of the party. Very dear to her was also
Beta Sigma Phi, of which she was a member for over 50
years.
We would like to thank the staff of Eden’s
Retirement Villa and Neill Hall for their kind, compassionate care
over the last 3 years. A celebration of a life well lived, and a
private burial will take place at a later date. If you wish to make a
donation, the family asks that they be made to the Fredericton SPCA,
or the Fredericton homeless shelters.
