Muriel A Dobson 19222021

Muriel A. Dobson
1922-2021
It is with sadness that we announce Muriel A.
Dobson, 98, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Born in Hastings, NS, Muriel was a daughter of the late Stanley Fage
and Arminta (Manship) (Fage) Brooks
Muriel was predeceased by her husband, William R. Dobson;
infant son, Robert Dobson; daughter, Louise Jobe, and grandson Gordon
Jobe. She was also predeceased by siblings Emma Davis, Laura Fowler,
Roger Fage and Helen Rutherford.
Muriel will be dearly missed by granddaughter Glenda
(Murdock) Jean; grandson, Brian (Cheryl) Jobe; son in law, Robert
Jobe; great granddaughters, Sarah, Amanda, Courtney, Allison, Lindsay
and Meghan, along with 6 great great grandchildren. She is also
survived by sisters, Beatrice Porter, Mabel (Alex) Driega and brother
Art (Carol) Brooks, along with many beloved nieces and
nephews.
Muriel also known as “Gram D” lived most of her
life on the farm in Little River. She had such fond memories of the
time that she and Bill spent in the lumber camps, making many life
long friends. Muriel’s earlier years were spent working on
the farm with Bill and raising Louise. She was a faithful member of
the Ladies Circle of the Little River Baptist Church where she served
for decades.
Countless loved ones have had the pleasure of receiving her
hand knitted socks, mittens, hats, sweaters and slippers. Many of the
youths in Little River have warm memories of working in the blueberry
fields for Muriel and Bill.
After Bill passed away in 1981, Muriel discovered a love of
travel. Along with her sister Laura she travelled to many destinations
around the world including Hawaii and Singapore as two of her
favourites. A special trip to England with her daughter Louise was
also a highlight of her travels.
Along with knitting a couple of her favourite pastimes were
reading, baking and playing cribbage which she looked forward to every
week with her sister Beatrice. Muriel was also infamous for her
gingersnap cookies, which many a guest left her house with a bag full.
If you stopped by in August, chances are Muriel will be walking back
with a “dipper” and fresh picked blueberries. Muriel kept
active through the later years of her life, always piling her own
firewood well into her 90’s. She loved visits and family
dinners with her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren
through the years.
Special thanks to Randy & Cindy Oickle, who Muriel
fondly refereed to as her son, for their loving support and care.
Muriel was blessed with many wonderful neighbours, Edith &
Wilson Hunlsey, Gary & Carolyn Moore and special friend
Dorothy Webb, just to name a few.
We would like to thank the VON, the Centennial Villa, The
Gables Lodge and especially the Palliative Care team at the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre for their compassionate
care.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the
