Obituary of Morris Scott MacDonald
Predeceased by my parents (Ronald 1994) and Ruth (2008) I Morris Scott MacDonald passed away Friday February 26th 2021 at age 66. I went quietly and peacefully surrounded by close friends. I am survived by three aunts, Rose (Abbottsford, BC.), Julie (Winnipeg, MB.) and Agnus my second mother (Denver, Col.), along with numerous cousins across Canada and the US.
I was born in Assiniboia in 1954 and later moved to Swift Current before finally settling in Regina in 1959 (or so I have been told). I grew up in Dieppe Place and attended Martin Collegiate before graduating from The University of Regina in 1979. I did some auditing work for the Sask. Housing Corp before taking on a Branch Manager Position at PPG Glass. I joined SaskTel on June 15th, 1981 where I enjoyed a career of 25 years + 1 day. I was 51 years old and retired! What the heck do you do now? I transitioned to a small renovation company, flipped some houses, played a little golf and of course, enjoyed some time in the sun in Arizona. After about 8 years of this the call of Arizona and golf just got too loud. So I just played golf and helped others on their projects back home.
I’ve had a good life, wanted for nothing and much appreciated the nearly 15 years I enjoyed after the corporate world. Not many people get that opportunity! I am very grateful for the care I received from Dr. Chalchal, everyone at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, thoracic surgeon Dr. Bharadwaj, and his staff at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Between the two of them, I received an extra 18 months of life after the first cancer diagnosis and surgery. I always knew there was a 50/50 chance it would return, but was hoping to crack that 5 year mark.
I am very very appreciative of all of the help I received from loyal caring friends and family over the past 2 years as I dealt with cancer: Bob and Gail Lawson for the nursing, food and honesty. Jeremy Petras for all the chats and “brekys” (I knew you were in pain dude but you still chose to help me). Doug Jesse for the fishing, the renovation tips and help. The good Scotch and all the good times with Dan and Rae. Drs. Radhika and Sanjay Marwah for all the timely medical interpretation and advice. And finally, Lu (Luanne Truong) … my rock, who managed to keep me anchored and positive throughout.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations on my behalf to a Saskatchewan charity of your choosing. At my request, no service please.
