It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Amanda Voss from a brain hemorrhage on January 7th, 2021 – age 42.
She leaves to mourn her devoted parents, Gunter Voss and Maciejka Slawinska-Voss; her loving brother, Christopher Voss and sister-in-law, Martine Tawfik; her long time partner, best friend and soulmate of 23 years, Mike McCatty; her grandma, Elfie Voss; her maternal uncle, Chester Niski and Elisabeth Plourde and the many cousins in Poland and Germany she hoped to visit when Covid-free travel resumes. Also feeling her loss will be her lifetime soul-sisters, Jackie, Paula and Zina, and other friends she kept since childhood – as the many she made while working for Bombardier Aerospace and elsewhere.
Amanda’s enthusiastic smile could light up a room! Lovely to look at, creative, genuine and smart, she had the kindest of hearts. Her effervescence and commitment extended to her management job at Bombardier where she rose to director level prior to being diagnosed with leukemia. One of her superiors commented: “We were very fortunate to work with such a wonderful person.”
Her last two and a half years of combatting AML (acute myelogenic leukemia) were heroic! Her tenacity and optimism in beating this terrible blood cancer impressed her closest as well as the staff and doctors at both the Jewish General and Maisonneuve Rosemont hospital where she got her stem cell transplant last summer. No complaints, always looking to tomorrow! To quote her ncology hematologist, Dr. Cassis: “What determination and what a fighter! So near to recovery and now this!”
Her illness intensified her faith. Tanya, a family friend, commented: “The best exchange I had with Amanda was a faith-in-God conversation at her brother’s wedding in 2019. She said that in her tough days with leukemia, God always sent her “the right person” just to know that He is with her. She fought the good fight of faith, leaving a beautiful legacy. She will be missed by so many!”
Thanks to all at both hospitals for trying so very hard! And thank you Father Sabbath for being there! Donations in Amanda’s memory may be made to: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, liscanada.org
Due to the pandemic, her funeral Mass at St. Thomas a Becket in Pierrefonds and a traditional burial has been put off until May.

Death notice for the town of: Dorval, Province: Quebec
I am so sorry to learn of Amanda’s passing. I worked with Amanda many years ago at Future Electronics. She had a beautiful personality, was always so nice and pleasant to work with with. It is tragic that her life was cut short. Rest In Peace.
I had the privalige of working with Amanda for many years at Bombardier.
I considered her a friend and was amazed at her consistent positive attitude no matter what challenges she faced.
She worked hard, loved life, rabbits, her dog and especially her beloved Michael.
I am sure she is in a better place now and that my husband Mike has taken her under his wing in heaven.
Rest well Amanda
