Obituary of Mitchell James Hall
HALL, Mitchell James
June 13, 1964 – August 6, 2021
Mitchell James Hall was born in Yorkton, SK on June 13, 1964. His family moved to Margo in 1967. Mitch attended Margo School and earned his Grade 12 Diploma in 1982. As a teen, he was involved in Army Cadets. After graduation, Mitch worked at Maple Farm Equipment in Yorkton. He then decided to train to become a mechanic just like Pops (Grandpa Hall).
Mitch earned his Sask. Journeyman’s Mechanics papers from Palliser Institute in Moose jaw, SK. His first job as a mechanic was at Quill Plains in Wadena, SK. Mitch moved to Canora, SK where he worked as a mechanic at the Co-op. It was in Canora that he met Kimberly and as they say, the rest is history!
Mitch and Kim moved to Maple Creek in 1987 where Kim worked at the school library and Mitch started his 25+ years of working in the oilfield. He loved the challenge of keeping the natural gas flowing! Finally, Mitch popped the question to Kim and they were married on August 6, 1994 at the United Church in Maple Creek. In 1998 their daughter Lauren “Peanut” was born.
Mitch loved his family with all his heart and spending time with them was important. Summer meant camping trips and fishing in the boat. Jan Lake was a favorite destination! Mitch had a fondness for animals and the family owned many beloved “fur kids” throughout the years.
In 2014 he had a shift in careers as he ran his own business and drove school bus. Mitch sure loved doing the morning bus runs!
In 2017 there was another change – a move to Regina! Mitch was employed by Regina Lutheran Home as a maintenance worker. The best part of this job was the people – staff, elders and families. Mitch loved to visit and joke with everyone.
In 2018 Mitch had a heart attack and after recovering he changed places of work. He started at Harbour Landing Village as a Facility Co-ordinator in June 2019. HLV was a second home for Mitch. He loved and cared for the staff, residents and daycare kids and the feeling was returned to him tenfold!
Mitchell is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kimberly (nee Stinka); and daughter Lauren. He is also survived by his parents, James and Audrey (nee Lunn); sister Jacqueline; brother Kevin (Teresa); as well as nieces and nephews.
Mitch’s greatest loves were family, fishing, camping, cars and music (heavy metal). He was pretty good at renovating a house too! Mitch will be remembered for his caring and compassionate nature and for having a sense of humor (that may have been a bit twisted at times).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada, 919B Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2P6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 110-1525 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1Z 8R9.
An informal come and go gathering to celebrate Mitch’s life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Harbour Landing Village, 4000 James Hill Road, Regina, SK from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
