A limb has fallen from the family tree. It is with heavy hearts that we, the children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren of our Mom, Gramma, and Great-Gramma share the passing of Minnetta on December 25th, 2021 after many medical challenges this past year. She left us peacefully in her 86th year, at home, surrounded by her loving family and canine companion, Buddy.
Loving wife of Gordon Richard (predeceased). Daughter to Kenneth and Elizabeth Howard (both predeceased). Sister to Darwin (Leone) (both predeceased), Elwyn (predeceased) (Rita), and Margaret (predeceased). Survived by her daughters Ila Hanzel (Jim), Tracy Saarikoski (John), and son Jordy Dahlvick. Loving grandmother to Jenna-Lee Pfeiffer (Robert), Josh Hanzel (Sam), Ethan Hanzel (JayJay), Tatjana Dahlvick, and Jamie-Lee Dahlvick. Great-grandmother to Charlotte and Sophia. She will be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews. Special friend to Yo and Ray, Lynda and Bill, and Val and Bob.
Minnetta worked for INCO in Garson and Copper Cliff before retiring with 27 years of service. Mom had a love of family and nothing pleased her more than to welcome family and friends to the Dahlvicks’ Hideaway on Windfall Lake, Manitoulin Island. For many years, she could be found at the Farmer’s Market in Mindemoya as a vendor. Many people benefitted from her lessons in cro-hooking, and many more enjoyed the warmth of her cro-hooked afghans. Mom was a faithful member of the United Church of Canada. She bowed her head before every meal and again each night before she went to bed. This was a lesson she taught us all.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Drs. Bansal and Walton and the entire team at LHIN. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Minnetta’s name can be made to her home church, Grace United Church, Sudbury.
