Obituary of Mildred Loretta Rankin
New Glasgow, N.S.-It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mildred Loretta Rankin 96, on Friday April 16, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital New Glasgow.
Mildred was born in New Glasgow and was the only child of Alan and Sadie (Gillis) MacKinnon of Stellarton N.S. She lived her entire life in Stellarton, other than when she was away for 20 years living in various provinces across the country, when her husband Fred was employed with The Royal Canadian Air Force. She had worked briefly, many years ago, at Zellers and Sobeys in New Glasgow.
Mom was a passionate reader and we were constantly challenged in keeping her supplied with good quality reading material and her crossword puzzles. She enjoyed nothing better than putting on the teapot and having lunch with family and friends.
She is survived by sons David (Faye) New Glasgow, Rick (Diane) Trenton, NS; a daughter Joyce (John)Fraser, Pictou Landing NS. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Rankin, Windsor NS; Robert Rankin (Jennifer Lutes), Ottawa, Ontario; Patty Morrison, Red Deer Alberta; James (Brienna) Fraser Edmonton, Alberta; Heather (Josh) Reid, New Glasgow, NS; and Jennifer Rankin (Aaron Finney) Saltsprings, NS; and a total of 13 great- grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Fred.
The family would like to offer a very special Thank You to the staff and residents of High-Crest Place in New Glasgow where she has resided the past seven years. She was provided with the very best of care and she made many good friends while there.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton, NS at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Place, Recreation Dept., 222 Provost St. New Glasgow, N.S. B2H 2R3. –
