Mildred Millie Orescanin Utvich Thursday December 9th 2021

ORESCANIN, Mildred (Millie) – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Millie on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Chippawa Creek at Bella, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of John for 68 years. Loving mother of Dan (Chris). Cherished grandmother of Nathan (Mary), great grandmother of Kevin Bateman (Ashley), Sarah Crichton (Scott), Nickolas and Jenna and a great great grandmother of Reed, Ian and Brooklyn. Dear sister of George Utvich (Judy) and Danica Utvich and sister-in-law of Lorna Utvich. Loving sister-in-law to Eli and Koviljka Orescanin. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousin, Kumovi and friends. Predeceased by her siblings Sam, Dragica, Michael, Steve and Anne.
Millie was a vibrant and loving woman. She faced any life challenge with her strong faith and resiliency especially in the last couple of years with her difficult health issues. She never felt sorry for herself or complained about her woes. Instead, she would want to know about you and what was going on in your life.
Millie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Nothing made her happier than having her family visit or to be able to cook their favorite meal for them. Cooking and baking was never too much for the people she loved.
She was blessed with many good Kumovi and friends. Her desire to learn new things took her down different career avenues such as hairdressing, catering with her dear friend Lillian and banking where she retired from CIBC in 1994. Millie was an amazing cook and baker and always there to share her skills for a friend’s special event, birthday, anniversary, wedding or church event.
She had a sharp mind for numbers and incredible memory for dates. She was the go to person when we needed to know when something occurred. Millie was a wonderful conversationalist and always took a keen interest in everyone she met. She had an extremely generous spirit helping many people over the years either through her listening, encouragement or whatever means was needed to help the situation.
She was a proud member of St George’s Serbian Orthodox Church where she and John had participated in the choir and she was a devoted member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters.
A big thank you to the nursing staff of The Vineyards at Chippawa Creek Bella who extended compassion and care to Millie. Thank you also to the dialysis unit in Niagara Falls and Welland. A heartfelt thank you to LHIN for providing the type of care necessary to allow Millie to spend as much time at home as she could.
