1929-2021
SANFORD, Mildred Lena –
91, Guysborough, formerly of Lundy, Guysborough Co.,
passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Born on
November 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Anthony
“Tony” and Amelia (Richard) Avery.
In 1963 she moved to the United States, where she worked
until her retirement when she returned back home in
2007.
She is survived by her best friend of 45 years, Nancy
Inferrera and her special dog, McGee. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first
husband, Wilfred Levangie; second husband, Lester Sanford. She was
also predeceased by sisters, Helen, Margaret, Clara, Mary, Garnet,
Abby and Ethel; brothers, John, Simon, Irvin, Mike; step-brother,
Clarence Richard.
At her request, cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will
be celebrated from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church,
Larry’s River on Wednesday, July 28 at 11 a.m. with Father
Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial to follow in St.
Peter’s Parish Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of
Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be
