Michelle dedicated her life to the well being of others, starting in high school where she volunteered at the Lumsden Heritage Center bringing comfort to the residents there. She went on to enroll in Psychiatric Nursing at S.l.A.S.T where she graduated in 1995. She held various nursing positions for Saskatchewan Health until their move to Hinton.
Michelle and Mike moved on to Mike’s parent’s farm and were blessed with twin boys June 3, 1998. They were married in 2000 and later moved to Regina Beach. They were active with snowmobile racing and other pursuits. Owen was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 5 years old. Michelle became a champion for the cause and threw herself into fundraising and being involved with Muscular Dystrophy Canada as the President of the South Sask Chapter.
ln 2006 they gathered up the boys and opened the next chapter of their lives, a move to Hinton, Alberta. ln Hinton, Michelle continued her career in mental Health, first as a Mental Health Therapist at the Mental Health Clinic in the Community and then as the Crisis Triage Therapist with her office at the Hinton Hospital.
She was active in the community and of course her passion fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy. Everyone knew Michelle was the go-to person if you wanted to “get ‘er done”. No problem was too big for her to tackle.
They enjoyed exploring Jasper, camping, and travel of any kind. Michelle loved her craft room and spent many hours creating for friends and family. Her love of art was evident in her paintings.
Most of all, Michelle loved being with her family, raising her boys, mentoring her nieces and nephews. Later, she loved summers at her cabin at the campground in Malakwa.
Michelle had that magical ability to make everyone she met into a better version of themselves. Her smile and laugh could light up a room! She will be forever missed by all whose lives she touched!
Special thanks to Dr. Erin Cote and the wonderful staff at the Hinton Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
