Michel (Mike) passed away peacefully at home in Kamloops BC on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Mike managed his health issues with strength, grace and humor.
Born in Timmons Ontario, March 6, 1954 he was the eldest of six children of Frances and the late Gerard Marcel Grandbois. In 1974 Mike relocated to Kitimat BC and has called British Columbia home since then.
Mike valued spending time with his family and friends, spending time outdoors; camping, hunting, fishing, and geocaching, reading and travelling. He was a man of integrity and faith and was always willing help out in any way he could. In his final days he was fortunate to have many visits, phone calls and texts from so many, reminiscing and hearing about the impact that he made.
Michel will always have a special place in the hearts of his wife Marilyn, their children; Eric, Céline (Joseph), and Rachel, Pop’s favorite grandchild Teija, his mother Frances, his siblings; Marie Lynn (Roger), Denis (Josette), Francine (Neil) and André, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and “adopted” family.
Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and medical staff at BC Lung Transplant, Vancouver General Hospital, the Kidney and Peritoneal Dialysis Clinics in Kamloops, and Royal Inland Hospital who for the past 26 years have helped extend Mike’s life. A special thank you to Dr. Victor De Kock, the Palliative nurses and Canadian Red Cross Loan program who made it possible for Mike to die at home.
