Obituary of Michael Thomas Sloan
It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Michael Thomas Sloan on October 31, 2021, who was in his 77th year.
Mike is survived by his wife Linda (Berrigan), his daughter Marlene (Marty Russell), and his grandchildren, Madison McKinlay, Jack McKinlay, Lauryn Russell and Audrey Russell. He is predeceased by his daughter Tracey McKinlay.
Mike is survived by siblings Ann Kluke (late Vernon), Pat (Isobel), Reda Marlow (Gene), Mary Lou (Arlene Craig), Ken (Cathy) and Lora Lee (Bonnie Brown), many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He is predeceased by siblings Arnold (Phyllis), Owen (late Jean), Donald (late Gail), and Eric (Claudette).
Mike was born in Vinton, Quebec, to Emily Hearty and Clarence Sloan. He retired from a long career at the City of Ottawa (recently as Supervisor of Catherine Ward), and he went on to work as a farm worker for several years for Ross Mowatt farms, which he enjoyed immensely.
For the past 27 years, Mike and family enjoyed their piece of paradise on Centennial Lake in Griffith ON. They have many memories of Camel Chute Campground.
Mike spent his retirement years travelling, helping neighbours and friends, and enjoying his family. He will be missed by many.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 6 from 1-4pm at Ale Lounge, Amberwood Village Golf and Country Club, 54 Springbrook Dr, Stittsville. Blessing to be performed by Reverend Heather Kincaid at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parkinson Canada or a charity of your choosing.
In line with the Government of Ontario regulations a proof of Covid -19 double vaccination and identification will be required for all individuals over the age of 12.
