Obituary of Michael Robert Mills
Mills, Michael Robert -Age 64, of Bridgewater, passed away February 16, 2021 after a valiant struggle with cancer. Born in Liverpool, N.S., he was a son of the late Rev. Robert H Mills and the late Karen Keirstead Mills. Mike had a very fulfilling, enjoyable, and successful 34-year career with Scotiabank, having retired from the bank in New Minas in 2015. He volunteered for many projects and organizations over his working life and had a special passion for local initiatives, which brought him to the Rotary Club of Kentville where he was a member for 10 years and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Sue Mills; daughter, Kate Mills (Ryan), Langford, B.C.; stepchildren, James McDermaid, Vancouver, B.C.; Julie McDermaid (Doug), Sooke, B.C.; Andrew Fletcher (Wanda), Lucasville; Jillian Veinot (Nick), Centerville; siblings, Deborah Ballignger Mills (Jim), Halifax; Stephen (Susan), Upper LaHave; David (Nancy), Halifax; Katrina Mills Pecknold, Halifax; stepsister, Ingrid Harder, New Zealand; grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, DaeShawn, Keira; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by stepmother, Helga Mills and his first wife, Chris.
Special thanks to Dr. Gowan and her team at Palliative Care. The body has been cremated and burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, Mike’s wish is for donations to be made to The South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society.
