Mike Zatylny passed quietly in the arms of his loving wife Doreen at the Sundre Hospital, having recently celebrated his 96th birthday. Originally from Erickson Manitoba, Mike met the love of his life through mutual friends in Olds, and they spent the next 15 years living in Bergen with Mike pipelining from the Lakehead in Ontario to Terrace BC, and in Alberta from Fort McMurray to Coleman. Eventually, the family moved to the Westward Ho area where Mike manufactured gates and bale handlers for years until his retirement. A gentle, quiet man, singer and guitarist, and an avid hunter, golfer, and outdoorsman, Mike was a favourite with the nieces and nephews in Alberta and Manitoba, and with people everywhere he lived and worked. He will be sadly missed by his wife Doreen, and their children Randy and Brenda (Murray Nesdoly). The family thanks Dr Ward and the nursing staff of the Sundre hospital for their compassion and care during the last months of Mike’s life.
