Passed away suddenly at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador on Tuesday, 9 November 2021 Michael Sinclair of Brooklyn, aged 62 years. Surrounded by his loving family, his last hours were comfortable and his last moments were peaceful.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons Josh Sinclair (Lindsey) Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador, Luke, granddaughter Ava in Oromocto, New Brunswick and special friend and life partner Delores Hancock (sons Gary and Glen and dad’s “boy” Sarge the cat) brother Murlen (Sylvia), sisters Delphine (David Oliver) Janet (Lester Lambert) Elizabeth (Craig Rintimaki) and Anita along with a large circle of family and friends in his dear home of Newfoundland and Labrador and elsewhere. Predeceased by four siblings Beaulah, Manny, Belle, and Otto. As he lived in Ontario for a significant number of years, various places throughout his home province and in Western Canada, there were many places where he could “drop in for a visit”.
Born in St. John’s just before Christmas in 1958 to an unwed mother, he was taken from and adopted by his biological grandparents Herbert and Dora Sinclair (predeceased) in Monroe and raised as “the baby” of their large family. This meant that as years went on, he was fortunate enough to have two sets of siblings; his biological ones and the ones he grew up with. All of whom called him “their brother”. Though his life was not always easy, he knew right from wrong and made sure his boys did too. Formal education wasn’t something he felt was necessary, because he had an uncanny knack for making anything he put his hand to turn to gold. Whatever he worked at during his 50 years in the workforce (first job being water-nipper at the brickyard in Milton at age 12) right up until his last day on earth, he constantly amazed customers, friends, family and employers throughout that whole time. This included anything and everything to do with glass, drywall finishing and painting, carpentry, general repairs, renovations, quarry operations and manual labour. You didn’t even suggest taking his vehicle to a garage, because as much as he despised mechanic work, either he or he and his brother Murlen took care of it. Never one to back down form a challenge, the worse the problem was, the more he liked it. If something wasn’t working or had to be done, it was taken care of in a way that many folks would not have ever dreamed of. The creative talent and problem solving skills he had would have made many others rich, but he opted for the simple and modest life.
