Michael James Gill, 20, of Gander passed away November 13, 2021.
The son of John and Fiona Gill, Michael grew up and was educated in Gander. He enjoyed playing many sports and refereed hockey and basketball. He graduated from Gander Collegiate and was a member of the Gander Collegiate Concordes Boys Hockey Team. At the time of his passing he was enrolled at College of the North Atlantic, Burin Campus, and pursuing certification in Welding Engineering Technology. Michael was a Canadian Armed Forces Reservist with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Grand Falls – Windsor, NL. He joined the Regiment at 16 and completed Basic Military Qualification in Newfoundland and Developmental Phase 1 at Gagetown, NB. Michael was an avid outdoorsman. Outdoor life was his passion. He enjoyed fishing of all types (cod, trout, salmon) and fly tying. He enjoyed hunting of all types, waterfowl, small and big game. Michael was well versed in the circle of life and enjoyed planting, cultivating and harvesting vegetables and berries.
Michael is survived by his parents John and Fiona Gill of Gander, older brother Zachary, twin brother Thomas and his friend Laura Brown. He also leaves behind his Grandparents Allan and Melanie Gill of Botwood, and Diana McKay of Gander; Aunts Lisa, Freda, Fay, Janice, Jane; Uncles Dan, Frank, Greg,
Fred, Kevin and Robin; Cousins Norah, Jacob, Adam and Joshua.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in honour of Michael at Fraser Road United Church, Gander, 3 pm, Friday, December 3rd, 2021.Covid-19 protocols are in place including registered attendance, VaxPass, photo ID, and mask. Space is limited to family and close friends.
An opportunity to meet with the family will be available following the service – 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the International Lounge, Gander International Airport.
The ceremony will be livestreamed on the Fraser Road United Church Facebook page, for those who wish to join virtually.
