La célébration de
Michael Chadsey
16 avril 1951 –
3 janvier 2021
With saddened hearts, Michael Chadsey passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at home, on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, at the age of 69.
Michael was born in New Westminster, British Columbia on April 16th, 1951 to Agnes Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Almond) and Allen Raymond (Ray) Chadsey. Michael spent his childhood years in beautiful British Columbia, until his teens, when he and his family moved to Toronto.
He graduated from the University of Guelph where he completed the Hotel and Food Administration Program, leading him to a full career in the club management business. While attending University he met and married Jennifer McKee in 1974.
He began his career as General Manager at Tyandaga Golf Course, in Burlington. He then moved on to manage The Hamilton Thistle Club, Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, Westmount G&CC, the prestigious St. George’s G&CC, Es G&CC, Thornhill G&CC and ended his distinguished career at The Ojibway Club. He built many wonderful relationships with people in the Club world and was a truly respected, successful, patient and supportive leader, loved by members and staff alike. Mike had a strong respect for others, and a deep sense of integrity. He will be remembered as an outstanding leader and his legacy will endure for years to come.
Michael retired in December of 2015. He spent his time happily playing golf, a true passion, as well as traveling and catching up on his many interests. It was during his retirement while living in Mississauga that he met Nevenka, his fiancé and love. Although their time together was cut short the two of them enjoyed a wonderful companionship and shared many adventures and happy times together. Eventually they settled in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Mike was able to achieve a lifelong dream in 2019 when he travelled to Ireland for an extended golf vacation with his lifelong buddy, JB.
Mike was a loyal friend to those lucky enough to have known him, and will be remembered for his unfailingly gentlemanly character, kind heart, generous spirit, his amazing sense of humour and the way he made everyone feel cared for and respected. He is leaving an enormous space in our hearts. He is gone too soon, but he will always be with us.
Michael leaves behind his fiancé Nevenka Gospodnetic, his sister Sheila (Rod Stringer), Jennifer Chadsey, daughter Sara Chadsey (Brian Martin) and son Stephen Chadsey (Kyla Rioux). He also leaves behind many extended family members, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at Turner & Porter “Neweduk” Chapel, on Saturday, January 9th at 3:00pm. Due to COVID restrictions, only 10 invited family members will be allowed to be present in person for the service. The service can also be streamed live (link to follow).
