Obituary of Mercurio Di Maria
It is with great sadness that the family of Mercurio Di Maria announce his peaceful passing on December 24th 2021 in his 91st year. Mercurio leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria (Mascia) and cherished children: Anselmo, Mario (Sandra), Anna (Roger), Tony (Kathy), Mike (Elinor), Ron and John (Tracy). Nonno of Stacey, Meighan; Matthew, Kristyn; Justin, Nicole and Jessica; Simon, Gillian; Taylor Teirney, Gavin; Emma, Abby; Katie and Daniel. Bisnonno to his 10 great-grandchildren. Brother to Angiolina (Calogero) Italy; brother-in-law to Rinaldo (late Vincenza) and Fausta (late Giovanni). Zio will be missed by many nieces and nephews here as well as Italy. The family wish to extend their deepest gratitude to Mary (“Maria”), who had extensively provided excellent care and friendship for the past 16 years to Mercurio as well as Dr. Hu and all the staff at Linhaven. Thank you also to CCAC/LHINS (Barb and Elaine) for everything you have done over the years to support dad’s wishes. Mercurio over the years enjoyed helping others, tending to his vegetable garden, tinkering in the shed and time with family and friends. “Papa, speriamo che trovi pace durante il tuo ultimo viaggio. Ti vogliamo bene.” In keeping with his wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. Cremation has taken place and the family wish to invite guests for visitation on Thursday, January 6th 2022 from 11am-2pm with a funeral service to follow in the ceremony room at 2pm. Burial will be at a later date. If desired, please consider making donations in honour to Mercurio to either The Alzheimer Society and/or Wellspring Niagara.
In accordance with Covid-19 regulations, proof of double vaccination and identification is required at the funeral home.
