Melody Francine (deBoer) Carter
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our beautiful daughter, sister, wife and mother, Melody Francine (deBoer) Carter after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Melody was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta on August 17, 1984 and passed away peacefully holding her mother’s hand in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
Melody was always a spirited, energetic and caring person. She grew up in Whitecourt, Alberta and attended St. Mary and St. Joseph Schools, graduating in 2002. She moved to Calgary in 2004 after meeting Adam. She loved camping with Adam, Vance and Zara and their furry friend, Mika. She worked very hard to get her Medical Device Reprocessing Technician training and enjoyed working with the staff at High River General Hospital and the Rockyview General Hospital. She loved butterflies, reading books and watching the Calgary Flames.
Melody is lovingly remembered by her husband and love of her life, Adam Carter; children, Vance (14) and Zara (10); her parents, Pete and Annette deBoer of Whitecourt; brother, Jonathan; sister, Nicole (Dawson Cooper); mother and father-in-law, Helen and Stan Carter of Meath Park, Saskatchewan; sisters-in-law, Heather (Doug) and Crystal; numerous nieces and nephews; her grandparents, Paul and Frances Bogner of Berwyn, Alberta; and Tina deBoer of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Melody was pre-deceased by her grandfather, Harry deBoer
If you wish to make a donation in Melody’s name, please consider contributing to an Education Fund for Melody’s children Vance and Zara or to the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary. Please contact inmemoryofmelodycarter@gmail.com for details on how to donate to the children’s Education Fund. It was one of Melody’s final requests that family and friends spread the word about how prevalent, and how deadly malignant metastatic melanoma can be – please wear sunscreen!
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a Private Funeral Celebrating Melody’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Melody Francine Carter May 9th 2021..
